OPEIU Local 11 was first chartered on February 1, 1945 and from that date forward we have continued to grow into the dedicated and viable organization we are today. Welcome to the Office & Professional Employees International Union, Local 11, an affiliate of the Office & Professional Employees International Union and the AFL-CIO.

The Officers, Staff and Shop Stewards are here to serve you in any way they can. Your Shop Steward is an employee, just like you, except he or she has been elected by his or her peers to be the onsite Union Representative in the workplace. A list of your Local’s Officers, Representatives and Stewards should be available on your workplace Union bulletin board. If not please ask your Steward.

OPEIU Local 11 is dedicated to foster a positive working environment and pathways toward a living saving wage for all members.

We encourage you to read and become familiar with your Union Contract so that you will be aware of the benefits available to you under this important document.

 PURPOSE: To conduct the general business of the Union and to hold nominations for Officer & Executive Board Positions:

Recording Secretary (2-year Term) – Incumbent Autumn Sailer

Utilities (2-year Term) – Incumbent Lori Ricketts

At-Large (2-year Term) – Incumbent Kayleen Williams

Trustee (1-year Remaining in a 3-year Term) – Vacant

2021 John Kelley Labor Studies Scholarship

Application Deadline: March 31, 2021

ELIGIBILITY:

This scholarship is for OPEIU MEMBERS ONLY, which means, dependents of OPEIU MEMBERS are NOT eligible to apply for this scholarship. A member can only receive this scholarship once while seeking an undergraduate degree and once while seeking a graduate degree.

Eight (8) scholarships per year will be awarded on the basis of at least one (1) per region. Applications are open to members or associate members in good standing for at least two (2) years. All applicants must meet the eligibility requirements and comply with the Rules and Regulations as established by the OPEIU Executive Board. Each scholarship has a total maximum value of $3,250.00.

THE APPLICANT MUST BE:
• a member or an associate member of OPEIU in good standing for at least 2 years; and
• either an undergraduate or graduate in one of the following areas of study:
▪ Labor Studies
▪ Industrial Relations
▪ Union Leadership and Administration

2021 Howard Coughlin Memorial Scholarship

Application Deadline: March 31, 2021

AN APPLICANT MUST BE:


• A member or an associate member of OPEIU in good standing up until date of endorsement by Local Union President/Secretary-Treasurer.

• The son, daughter, stepchild or legally adopted child of an OPEIU member in good standing or an associate member.

• A High School senior or High School graduate entering a College, University or a recognized Technical or Vocational Post-Secondary School as a full-time or part-time student.

• Presently enrolled in an undergraduate degree at a College, University, or a recognized Technical or Vocational Post-Secondary school as a full-time or part-time student.

HARDSHIP PROGRAM: Referral form

This Hardship Program is for all Union members referred to the program and who qualify and meet the criteria set out by the OPEIU Local 11 Executive Board; who are the governing body of this approved program. 


 

OPEIU Free College: New Programs Now Available


OPEIU Free College:
New Programs Now Available

A new degree in health services is now available through your OPEIU Free College Benefit. This degree is available for the spring classes beginning Jan 11, 2021. With the online health services program at Eastern Gateway Community College, students will establish the fundamentals they need to work in nursing and other allied health programs.

Also, there are new FREE bachelor's degree completion options in interdisciplinary studies/humanities, business administration, early childhood education, education/intervention and criminal justice.

Interdisciplinary studies is a flexible degree that allows students to build on their interest in more than one discipline, while providing workable options to meet your education and professional goals. 

These degrees are available for the spring classes beginning Jan 19, 2021.
Through the OPEIU Free College and Bachelor Completion benefit, OPEIU members in good standing and their families can earn an associate degree or certificates or complete their bachelor's degree absolutely free of charge. Every member and their children, stepchildren, grandchildren, spouses, domestic partners, financial dependents, parents, siblings, sons- and daughters-in-law and nieces and nephews can earn a two-year online degree or certificates, or complete their bachelor's degree with absolutely no out-of-pocket costs for tuition, fees or e-books.
